Here are more photos of Alessandra Ambrosio from some recent shows at Fashion Week. The top photo is especially relevant to our blog as her proportions are very visible.
It's very mild. Like Anna Sharapova, the tennis player, Gwyneth Paltrow, or Karolina Kurkova. All very, very, tall where every body part is long and stretched out.
I think she has a longer torso, but really, she has short arms. Most of the other models have arms that go below their crotch area, but hers seem quite short. The arm length may affect the look of the proportions? I see tall women with longer torso/average length women all the time on the subway in NY.
Yes, I agree last poster. With certain people, like Alessandra even when she wears heels, her proportions are still visible. At least to me. Maybe, it's the arms. Short arms to go with short legs?
Yet, when others like Olivia Wilde, and even shorter girls like Hayden Panetierre (sp?) wear heels I don't really notice it. I mean I think they look short but not disproportionately short if that makes any sense.
I think it's okay that very short women like under 5'1" have short legs. Because they are shorter than average height, so we don't expect for long legs. Also I don't care even if tall women over 5'6" have short legs. Because their height is already taller than average which means they already have longer legs than average people. What I want to say is, average women (5'3"-5'4") with short legs make them more anguish, I think... I'm 5'3" with short legs... I know tall women with long torso and short legs, but their legs are still longer than me. So if they wear high heels, they look they don't have any probs.
I understand what you mean. But, short women may yearn to be in your dilemma. Where their shortness doesn't become their most distinctive feature, and everyone always has to point out that s/he is 5'1 or 4'11.
And the taller women may not want to be so tall where everyone always notices them, and they feel that their disproportion sticks out more. In addition, a lot of women especially some tall women do not like to wear heels and be even taller than your boyfriends.
Here is another picture of Alessandra at the VS show. Her long torso is clearly apparent in that corset. Not a good outfit choice, I don't think. Corsets are always really tricky for long torsoes, shame...

ReplyDeleteI always thought it was rare to be tall with shorter legs. I wonder how many readers fall into this category?
ReplyDeleteYes I think it is rare to be tall with short legs.

Thank your stars for what you've got :).
I meant "some tall women do not like to wear heels and be even taller than THEIR boyfriends" :).
ReplyDeleteMaybe, we can talk about heels sometime. They're universally touted for women to make them look taller with longer legs. And I can't stand them.
Opinions, everyone?

Maybe, you're right about corsets. But, I blame the stringy microscopic bottoms for making her torso look long.
