brave reader 1

Here is our first brave reader to share images of herself with us. We shall call her "photo submitter 1" and she writes:
"I have forever been self-conscious as the result of a comment my voice teacher made once about my "disproportionately short legs." I'm not sure about the angles at which some of these were taken, though I am on stage in the one with jeans, thus the photograph was taken from the audience at a lower level."

Dear photo submitter 1, you have a great body and that blue dress of yours is gorgeous and entirely ideal for the LSL type of body as it visually raises the level where the legs begin. The tight dresses do flatter your slim and feminine waist, however they do show that your hips are a little bit lower down then average, and I mean only slightly, and only if I am looking at you in a critical manner. Otherwise you appear close to normal. However looking at the photo in which you are wearing jeans you appear very long legged, due to the low flattering angle. Really you have nothing to be insecure about.

  1. Pretty body. Good legs. Beuty skin.

  2. God damn. Do you have short legs? What is your ratio? Although the person standing behind you with the white socks may actually have short legs instead :). Why doesn't s/he write in?

Good jeans and fit for making legs look longer. Are they boot cut? The gold shoes with the poofy blue dress are more flattering to a longer leg look, like Jodie Foster's nude shoes. You are smokin in the tube dress with sash, although perhaps (not sure) if a less dark shoe would be better.

  3. Do you know Natalie Portman? From these pictures, you seem (to me) to have proportions similar to hers, although you may have sexier and curvier figure. Natalie can look a little boyish or girlish.

  5. You aren't short legged by any means! In fact I think you have nice proportions, with a very feminine body, great waistline and slim legs. You teacher was definitely wrong! ^_-

  6. One of the best parts of a woman is the collar bone, neck, and shoulders/arms. Like Halle Berry, Natalie Portman, Grace Kelly, you've got good one. The dresses, and shirts you wear seem to show off the neck and collarbone which is supposedly also elongating.

  7. Do you think that your self consciousness is a part of your general performer's anxiety? Those in the spotlight, who perform, or stand in front of others seem to be a self conscious lot.

  8. Is your voice teacher gay?

  9. Um... you don't look short-legged to me.

  10. How tall are you? 5'3? 5'4?

  11. Wow, you have a great body. Amazing waist and hips.

  12. Thanks guys! I'm actually 5'2 (on a good day, haha), maybe slightly under, like 5'1 and 3/4. So definitely a shorty :) And surprisingly my voice teacher is completely straight (married and with kids)... trying to prepare me for the "real world," I suppose, as I am hoping to pursue a career in theater.

  13. I've been thinking a lot about horizontal proportions. Both you and LSL have curvy torsos. If you draw a horizontal line across the body you look like you're widest at the low hip. Or just above the top of the thigh. I think it draws the eye down and can make you look long waisted - even when you're not. Maybe, this is what you're voice teacher was referring to...? But, it also gives you an amazingly curvy figure. I see a lot of slim curvy models with this silhouette.

In contrast, BR2 has a high waist or a high hipline. If you draw a horizontal line across the body, it's widest right below her waistline (where the waist comes in above the belly button, or the skinniest part of the torso). This draws the eye upwards and helps to shorten the torso.

Both look great in my opinion.

  14. Thanks for the feedback, though honestly the photos in the tight dresses aren't probably very accurate representations of what I look like anymore... lost about 10 pounds since then (not on purpose) :/

  15. You're a lovely girl with a lovely figure and your legs really don't look disproportionate to the rest of your frame (to me). You can gain your weight back, I'm sure, even if it takes some time. But don't judge yourself too harshly, I wish I was as proportionate as you!

  16. You have really nice legs. They look quite long for your overall height, although you can tell you are short. They're a really nice shape, slim, but not scrawny or bony. I'm your height and would be very happy to have your legs :)

  17. To whoever said the Natalie Portman thing, yes this girl completely is proportioned like her! Kudos for that idea. And with TEN pounds off a tiny frame like that probably looks even more like Natalie Portman

  18. Your legs are not short at all! They look long. Especially since you are only 5'2". You have great proportions and look taller than you actually are.
