Hello Ladies,
Just want to apologize for being away from the blog for quite some time (started a new job), however I have been reading and enjoying all your comments, and there are two great ideas I plan to follow through regarding the sharing personal photos and related experiences. And secondly sorry for changing the background so much, I keep trying to find the Lady Short Legs look, and am not entirely sure I know what it is yet. This one is ok for the time being.
Love ya all.

  1. Sharing personal pics and tips on dressing is a great idea. I've also just come across another lady with a fabulous torso and shorter legs. Thank goodness for heels, right?

  4. I do think you need to feature short ladies with long legs to show what you are talking about, that it's not about height. Kylie Minogue, Sarah Jessica Parker and Dita von Teese all show how some one can be short with long legs. They are the other side of the coin. I know showing them might be a bit depressing, because they show that it's preferable to be tiny heightwise with relatively long legs, than tall with relatively short legs, but we're all realistic here anyway. It would make sense to feature them as a comparison.

  5. I think when people see ladies like poster mentioned above, short with long legs, people don't realize that they're short. That is, unless, they see them next to somebody else or against a background with things that give away height. Or hear and read constant mentions in the press about their height.

With me, unfortunately, people always think that I'm shorter than I really am due to the short legs. I always want to retaliate or snap back, because it makes me angry and I don't think it's something positive to be bringing up about someone else, but I usually don't. Does anyone else have a better way of handling it?

Because I just don't draw more or longer attention to it in public (and I just pray they shut up and the topic is dropped quietly), and also because I'm not sure if people really understand why they think I look short. I think a lot of people understand height but are pretty clueless about proportions which I think is what the commentator above is getting at.

  6. Amy Poehler, the blonde comedian, from SNL and the movie Baby Mamma is a short girl with long legs. I was surprised she was so small until I saw her next to Tina Fey at a press event for her movie.

  7. Rachel Dratch on the other hand looks short, and is short, so no surprise. I love her by the way. I'm always happy to see her on 30 Rock.

  8. In contrast, Catherine Zeta Jones is one of those people who look a lot shorter than they are, like me. I've read that her height is 5'8 or 5'7 but to me I always thought she was around 5'2. I know actors/actresses can fudge about their height, but even so she looks much shorter even if she's a an inch or so shorter.

  9. Ignore comments from people who don't matter. Avoid them. But, with people who are worth it, say something brief that you don't like it. In a chipper or neutral tone.

  10. Rachel McAdams is another actress that looks shorter than she is.

Here's a picture of her with Patricia Clarkson, an indie movie actress with beautiful strawberry blonde hair.

They're both about 5'5. Although Rachel is wearing higher heels which make her look like she's looming over Patricia.

More to the point, Patricia Clarkson is proportioned like Julia Roberts and Rachel's absolutely not. Her proportions make her look shorter, stockier and shorter legged despite the same overall height.

  11. I guess the moral of the story is that if you've got short legs don't stand next to the Julia Roberts proportioned friend.

  12. I don't see that they are very differently proportioned, although you can't actually see where their legs end and torsos begin. I think it's just that Rachel is stockier.

  13. Patricia Clarkson is one of the those leggy actresses who look taller than she actually is.

Scroll down to her photo where she's wearing the gold dress.

Rachel McAdams is completely differently proportioned. Stockier is just another way of saying shorter limbed, short legged, no?

It would be convenient if they were both in bikinis, I'm sure.

  14. Olivia Palermo is another TV reality star that looks taller than her actual height. She's only 5'4, but looks much taller, very model like due to her disproportionate legginess. She's also got a flat bum, but lovely long legs, great style, and a delicate angelic face.

  15. Here's a photo of Rachel McAdams on a bike so you can see her proportions better.

I don't know if she's that short legged or just average. My point is that her proportions make her look shorter than 5'5.

  16. I mean once you hit 5'5, most women start looking pretty leggy.

  17. Check out the blond actress from Big Bang Theory. She's got shortish/average proportions and supposedly is 5'7.
