Georgie Thompson

Georgie is an English TV personality and sports presenter. She is an attractive female with a normal sized and voluptuous torso quite adored by sport fans, however below the reporting desk she has extremely short legs, almost dwarf like which are rarely viewed by the public. She is also just five feet tall and is "addicted to high heels"

Interestingly, she owns a dachshund, those long dogs with extremely short legs, and you know what they say about dog's and their owners...(they look alike, and that people unconsciously choose a dog that looks like them).

Nonetheless Georgie was voted as 52nd sexiest women alive by FHM magazine a few years ago.

  1. I had never heard of Georgie Thompson before this post. She is an attractive lady with a pretty face, and her legs are definitely short in comparison to her torso, but overall in those pics she has a kind of "cute girl" vibe that I'm sure helped her get that rating of hers. And I like your point about her adorable dachshund!

  2. I'm also glad you posted on Georgie as I was the one who suggested her. I saw her when I was in England, and thought she had very short legs. It can even look funny in some pictures :). It's too bad for people who aren't familiar with her because she has a very professional and smart on camera presence that for Americans is enhanced by a crisp British accent that probably makes them sound even smarter than they are. Especially, as it's a woman talking knowledgeably about sports.

I don't think over the knee shorts/pants or baggy sweats are a really a great choice for her. And, yeah weird people and their dogs.

  3. And too bad you didn't include at least one pic of her looking great in a slinky dress because she can look really sexy and beautiful.

  5. Wow. What would you guess her inseam is?

  6. I noticed that most sex symbols have short or medium legs. Monroe, Megan Fox... even this woman, who is said to be in top 100 sexiest women by FHM. I guess, a lot of men simply don't pay attention at length of your legs. They look at other things first. An hourglass shape (for example) is more important, and many women with a hourglass shape have medium or short legs. As one of my male university friends told me: "In reality no one likes long-legged blonds. This MYTH appeared due to fashion industry". Something like that...

  7. Rather cruel the comment about her and the dog.

  8. I was going to post about her, but then decided not too as I thought it was almost too mean. She definitely does have very short legs compared to her torso. If you cover them up and just look at her upper half you would assume she was tall. But then you see her legs and there is absolutely no argument here, they are very short.

Still, she is an attractive woman and is considered as such. I'm sure she can be in no doubt about her short legs, so wouldn't actually be offended, and as such has just decded to make the most of the extremely attractive assets she has from her waist up. And let's face it, how many of us, leggy or otherwise get to front a TV show, where as a woman, looks always come into the equation!

  9. Addicted to heels, but wears flip flops and sneakers out and about in her free time!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Kate Middleton (Prince William's fiance) seems to have a long torso and short legs (in comparison to her body). She's about 5'9" so it's not as obvious if you look just at her legs.

  11. I am curious.

If Georgie had all the loathing, insecurities, depression, distress and emotional scars about comments, being made fun of her short legs would we say that she has Body Dysmorphic Disorder? Or would we say that her feelings are warranted given her body/appearance?

The whole point of BDD is that the person perceives and has all the emotional baggage of having an abnormality or defect when they actually don't in reality. Just like anorexia, they think they're fat but they're not.

Of course, if someone actually is morbidly obese, has a craniofacial abnormality, or whatever condition, it is NOT BDD. Although such people may need or desire therapy just like BDD sufferers to help deal with their feelings.

So, would it be understandable if Georgie felt badly about her short legs? Or would we say she has BDD?

  12. >>So, would it be understandable if Georgie felt badly about her short legs? Or would we say she has BDD?<<

No, it wouldn't be BDD. She obviously has extremely short legs. But presumably she suffers from no kind of BDD. She must be a positive person who doesn't focus on her less ideal features, but rather just makes the most of the many attractive ones she has :)

  13. I don't know much but....

Did you know that Georgie represented England in juniors international tennis competitions in high school? Think of how good someone has to be to be to be 5'2 and compete at such a level in a sport that favors the tall. She then went on to study Broadcast Journalism, and worked her way up the broadcast ladder at Sky Sports. Maybe she realized she couldn't continue in professional tennis but found another way to pursue her love of sport? Or maybe it was something she always wanted to do.

To me, I see it as an against an against the odds success story that just happens to include someone with short legs.

Nobody's a success on their own. It's other people who teach/train you, hire you, recommend you. I think other people saw that she had short legs, yes, but they saw other things too, the whole picture. The pretty face, the passion and knowledge of sports, the great figure.... No matter how you feel about your legs, and some of us would especially understand those feelings given our own neuroses, but whatever she felt or didn't feel herself, I don't think she let it stand in her way.

Maybe, short legs can look funny, but so can lots of other things too. Bums, bellies, noses, you just have to put it into perspective and not let it stop you.

I will now stop my stupid cheese, and the overcommenting but I just had get it out before X-mas.

  14. Hey, another long torsoed female is #1 tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. Actually I think having a long torso and shorter legs in tennis helps because your center of gravity is lower, you have long arms, and it's easier to take smaller steps. Here are some pics:

This first pic especially shows it:
    http://carowozniacki.blogspot.com/2009/11/great-very-recent-off-court-picture-of.html

    http://crackbillionair.wordpress.com/2010/08/29/us-open-top-ladies-seed-caroline-wozniacki-bikini-shots/

Caroline's body is considered one of the most desirable on tour and she is also one of the best movers on tour. She is 5'10" in case anyone is wondering.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I am long torsoed and I suck at tennis :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. A long torso can only take you so far lol. Actually I think a long torso is also good for swimming. Also, when it comes to giving birth, it's much better to be long torsoed than short torsoed.

Also, a long torso conserves body heat. This is one of the main reasons African Americans are leggier on average than other races.

    ReplyDelete
  17. "A long torso can only take you so far lol."

You mean it also takes discipline, mental toughness, endless practice, fitness, coordination, agility, strength...? Good thing you said something cos I was about to drop the Doritos and donuts, get on my short legs and grab my racket....

    ReplyDelete
  18. Why are you eating Doritos AND donuts?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Caroline does have a long torso.

  20. What about Myleene Klass? She's a presenter of sorts in the UK and has quite short legs too.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1327191/Myleene-Klass-shows-pregnancy-curves-glory-white-bikini.html

  21. Poor Klass - I would so hate to be a celebrity now, with everyone and their cell phone cameras, twittering, Facebook....

    ReplyDelete
  22. She's short and therefore has short legs. They are normal for her height.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Just because she's short doesn't mean she has to have short legs. Kristin Chenoweth is only 4'11" (one inch shorter than Georgie) and she looks a lot taller because she has long legs for her height.

    http://www.tvweekonline.ca/files/Glee-Kristin-Chenoweth.jpg

It's all about proportion compared to your own body. I think I'm more like Georgie than Kristin.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Exactly. She must be about the same height as Kylie, yet the difference in torso/leg ratio is glaring.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Myleene Klass is definitely a good example of long torso and short legs, and I believe she is rather tall, about 5'7".

    ReplyDelete
  26. Maybe the glaring torso/leg ratio isn't glaring as much as we think as indicated by comments above. People are pretty clueless about proportions. Look at all the comments that Rihanna, Leighton Meester, etc. having short legs. Compared to whom? Maybe all of this is relative. Maybe, people who see her just walk away with an impression of shortness and nothing more (i.e. no thoughts about disproportionate leg shortness)?

People can smidge about height. If Georgie is actually 5'2 and Kylie 4'11, Georgie may actually be 3' taller than Kylie so it's even more impressive how much short legs affect the perception of height for those who keyed into it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well thinking Leighton having short legs is understandable. She's proportionate but she's a slim pear so her upper body is leaner therefore making it appear longer. Rihanna having proportionately short legs is laughable. In fact, she has a disproportionately short torso and long legs although her pear shape helps disguise that.

Pears always look like they have longer torsos yet really they don't. Look at Beyonce, she actually has disproportionately long legs as most african american women do.

It would be interesting for LSL to do a race poll on this site. I bet you none of the readers are black. I have never seen a black woman with a long torso and short legs.

  28. Sorry for all the grammar mistakes. I didn't proofread.

    ReplyDelete
  29. What about Jada Pinket Smith

    ReplyDelete
  30. Actually, I think Rihanna has quite a long torso. She's not that different from Katie Holmes.

    ReplyDelete
  31. No, her legs are longer than Katie's. Look at how long her legs look and compare them to Gwyneth's who is of a similar height:
    http://www.zimbio.com/Katy+Perry+Pics/articles/405/Rihanna+Bikini+Pictures

    http://www.tiffanyastone.com/images/rihanna-bikini-run1.jpg

    http://showtimesays.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/rihanna-bikini-tattoos-09062010-06.jpg
She has a longish torso because she is tall and her torso is very lean in comparison to her thicker lower body so her body looks proportional however imo she leans towards short torso/long legs.

Compare Rihanna's legs to Gwyneth's who is an inch taller.
    http://www.usmagazine.com/uploads/assets/photo_galleries/hot_pics_galleries/2797-gwynie-s-bikini/1279563401_gwyneth-paltrow-468.jpg

Imo Jada Pinkett Smith is not disproportional, she is just short (under 5') so everythng looks really short. She has heels here so her legs look longer but you can still see her torso is short:
    http://www.denimblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/jada-pinkette-smith-true-religion.jpg

    ReplyDelete
  32. And they are definitely longer than Katie's:

  33. Good work on finding all those pics! I've seen ones of Rihanna in a bikini where her legs didn't look that long, but I'm not up to finding them and you've shown more than enough to be convincing. From the ones you've shown, I think Rihanna has the long torso + even longer legs combo. I don't think she's short waisted at all, or the short waist/long legs. I agree that the heavier legs/hips or pear shape contribute to making her legs look shorter.

Regarding Jada, I think you're right, but you have to take a look at pics of her in a short skirt/dress because her legs even with heels look rather short. Jada is also so small overall, with a very narrow body, and rather narrow boyish hips that unlike many women who are curvier in their hips, I wonder if it might just make her legs longer when they maybe aren't if that makes sense.

And she looks much shorter than 5' but maybe it's due to having to stand next to Will Smith constantly.

I feel funny sometimes talking about women so objectively, but I find it helps me to sort out warped perception from reality and get a grip on the body image problems. Looking at all the women on TV with heels, magazine shots from low angles and all the photoshopping to thin and lengthen can mess with one's head.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I also adamantly agree with the comments that having proportionately short legs make you look shorter than your actual height. Or at least shorter than people who are very leggy. But, I still feel that there are other factors that can affect our perception of how tall or big someone else is in addition to just having short or long legs.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I agree, how height is percieved depends on other factors as well. For example, Gwyneth has always looked tall to me, as has Mischa Barton and lady short legs looks tall to me as well. Paris Hilton actually used to look taller to me than her height of 5'7". I thought she was like 5'9". It's hard to say what makes them look tall if it isn't their legs. Obviously the fact that they're thin helps.

I've mentioned this before but one of the biggest advantages of having a long torso (especially if you're short overall) is that you have more room for a baby when you're pregnant. Many women who are short torsoed lose waist definition permanently after they have kids because their body had to make room for the child. I read somewhere it's also better for the baby. Also, having a long torso ages better than having a short torso as our fat distribution changes when we get older and fat tends to accumulate in the middle and this is less apparent on someone with a long torso.

Also in response to the other poster. You may be right about Jada. She may have disproportionately short legs. It's hard to tell because she's so short (4'11.5").

And about Rihanna, I didn't mean that she literally had a short torso/long legs, I just meant that she tended toward that body type. She has long legs for her frame.
It's hard to say who IS perfectly proportioned as far as legs/torso goes. Imo someone like Marisa Miller is perfectly proportioned. If you compare Marisa to Rihanna, both have longish looking torsos partly because their torsos are so lean but Rihanna has longer legs which is why imo she falls into the shorter torso/ longer leg type even though her torso is longish.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The first time I saw her photos I was admittedly shocked or surprised by her proportions. However, the more I see her the less I focus on it. She is very cute. I wonder though if she has a complex about her butt, because in all of these photos she's wearing a sweater or something that covers it. Even in the middle photo of her wearing the blazer. I would think she would wear something shorter under the jacket not something longer.

    ReplyDelete
  37. wow she has short legs but still very pretty, I was wondering if the celebrity Ines Sainz has short legs, she's really pretty but when I saw her photos it looked like she was on the shorter side but i want to confirm it, anyone know if she has short legs?

    ReplyDelete
  38. How about Shania Twain?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think Rihanna has long an big legs.

  40. You'd better leave black women alone. Otherwise you'll be even more frustrated. Everyone knows that black people are proportionate. Most black women have a short torso and long legs. As Michelle Obama.

    http://static.thehollywoodgossip.com/images/gallery/barack-and-michelle-obama-fashion_379x500.jpg

In fact, the success of long legs in the Western world is due to Josephine Baker:

    ReplyDelete
  42. I've seen beautiful black women in the movies, in magazines of all types, and in every day life. They like all individuals of every race or ethnicity come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes as well as talents and personalities. Look at the difference between Georgie Thompson and Gwyneth Paltrow. Or Jada Pinkett and Michele Obama. However, it becomes uncomfortable and erroneous to tie things too much to race and ethnicity. Instead of trying to see each person, realizing that we all vary a lot, and nobody's perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Black women can be fat (Monique), tall (Michelle Obama), small (Jada Pinkett), thin (Rihanna), thick (Beyonce). But majority of them have short torso and long legs. Like frizzy hair and thick lips. Fact.

  44. “Africans have proportionally longer legs, in general, with ratios around 0.51.” (written on the measurements post, and more or less across the research studies).

LSL has a CI of 51% as well. She is not all different from Paris Hilton. So you have seen many black women like LSL or Paris Hilton.

Aside from where their averages tend to fall, all populations (Dutch, African, Japanese, whatever) include a RANGE of leggy and not so leggy people.

Africans and Australian Aborigines also include in their range people who are .54% CI or 46% leg ratio (as well as some beyond I’m sure).

    Check it yourself.

Long ago I read the reports from anthropologists (early twentieth century) on the black Africans. Blacks on average have longer arms and longer legs than whites. They also have thicker lips and nose wider, etc. Of course, there are variations between ethnic groups.

What we notice most is that black women have longer legs. Fact...

Remember that. It's a black woman who inspired the modern body.

    ReplyDelete
  47. But black women come in all shapes and sizes. Remember it is a huge continent, and its people are probably still more varied in terms of appearance than any other so-called race. I know people find this hard to see, as we tend to think of white people as being the most varied, due to different hair and eye colours. But if you take this factor away, you see that Caucasian features are much more similar to each other in general, and this includes Caucasian peoples who aren't considered 'white', such as some Arabs an Indians.

Black Africans have a huge variety of features. This include facial features, but also height and proportion. Some geographical groups of them tend to be tall, just as Scandinavians and the Dutch tend to be tall, but others tend to be short, just as Southern Europeans tend to be shorter.

I admit I have not closely observed their proportions as a whole that closely, but I would be extremely surprised if all black people in the world had long legs relative to height.

Black Africans have longer legs. And it's not a bias or preconceived ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I agree with some points in the comments above. Black women DO have shorter torsos/longer legs ON AVERAGE than white women. Like I said before. The evolutionary advantage of a long torso is to conserve heat therefore people developed longer torsos when they moved to colder climates. Africa is hot(duh)and long limbs radiate heat better which is why Africans are typically so long limbed and why even though there is a lot of genetic variation among africans, it's difficult to find Africans with a long torso/short leg body type. I'm white btw and yes the poster above comes off as somewhat racist however I do agree with her on that point. I'm the one that originally posted the Rihanna comment so I know what I'm talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  52. No one's arguing that black women aren't proportionally leggier than white women. The point is that it's ALL a lot people seem to see, at the exclusion of facts, and reality. So, that they take a little bit of info on human diversity, misinterpret it, exaggerate it, see only what they want to see. As well as having a selective memory as to what they think they've seen according to their confirmation biases.

As I said before, 51% CI is a leggy African ratio. LSL has a CI of 51% exactly. In other words, she has an AVERAGE, AFRICAN, HYPER LEGGY FREQUENTLY OCCURRING leg ratio. Furthermore, LSL and Paris HIlton have almost the same body types.

Yet, people keep saying they have NEVER, EVER seen a black women with short legs and a long torso like Paris Hilton. This is absurd.

Now, why does LSL and Paris Hilton look like she has a long torso, and why doesn't she look like typical leggy African? I don't know but whatever it is, from what I can tell it's NOT her leg ratio.

Finally, my other point is that it is Africans do NOT just have ONE narrow hyper leggy ratio, so that everyone is 51%. That again seems ridiculous in regard to 'facts'. They follow a range just like the rest of us. Whether you see them or not, they're measurably, objectively out there according to all the data. Plus, I've seen them. I live in a country and city where there's a sizeable black population, and even though I have an idea of what's a normal height and build for a black person here, I also know I've seen many that are short, tall, average, heavy, thin, stocky, willowy, beautiful, cute, etc.

Sometimes, I think that if Georgie was Asian, some people would attribute her proportions to being Asian, when I don't think it is. She's just another person on the Caucasian (white, whatever) range. I think it's the same of any other population. Asian, White, Black, etc.

Sometimes, I think it's like God's or Nature's invisible hand at work to make sure if all the world got wiped out except, Nigeria, or Korea, or Iowa, there would be enough variability in any group to survive and adapt.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think LSL's legs are very longer than Paris Hilton and Keira.
LSL ratio is same the Gwyneth Paltrow and Edita Vilkeviciute.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Who is LSL ?

You may be links on the ratio of Paris Hilton? I doubt that the figure you give it are accurate. Because I see her. and I can assure you she is not like most women in Africa. This kind of ratio is very common in Europe. Not in Africa.

You may have photos of "many" black women who are like them? Show them. I was in Central Africa where people are rather stocky. But most of them do not have the ratio of Paris Hilton.

And according to reports on "Perseus" I've read, the Central African ethnic groups have proportionally shorter legs than the Sudanese, "Hamitic" Kwa, Nilotic, etc.. Yet their legs are even longer than those of white Europeans.

    ReplyDelete
  55. You take exception to generalities. These differences are however not difficult to perceive.

  57. Strange to read this black-white argument. Yes, may be a lot of black people do have long legs. Also, there are many black people who have great shapes in general. Does that make them happy? A lot of these black women would eat their right hand to become a white European, even with really short legs. They envy us sooo much!! Also, in many African countries the beauty standards are totally different. They don't give a shit about leg length. In some African countries they still love fat women. I used to know a girl from Kenya who complained she could never grow a fat ass!:)))

In Africa, people are not interested in leg length. Because they have no problems with proportions. In Europe, there is an obsession with long legs. If you talk all the time (in reference to long legs beautiful women, record of the longest legs ...) because it is rare enough for you.

You revel in another era. Make a list of what is valued in the physical beauty of a woman. And tell me if it is white women who have most of the criteria of beauty. I spoke earlier of Josephine Baker, who inspired the modern aesthetic in Europe. She was a black woman.

  59. >>A lot of these black women would eat their right hand to become a white European, even with really short legs. They envy us sooo much!!<<

Yes, no doubt even the most beautiful black woman would give anything to look like the ugliest white woman. LOL. You remind me of a documentary I saw once, where some really ugly white woman, who was going to marry an Arab man and go and live in his country, said she was glad that she would have to wear a veil, as white people were seen as incredibly attractive. Please! I thought to myself, no man from anywhere on Earth is going to find you attractive love lol.I am aware that the European look is admired in general, and maybe whites as in general do tend to look better, I'm not sure, but when you get some really ugly specimen of humanity, who happens to be white, deluding themselves that they are going to be seen as some stunner as soon as they step foot among non-whites, however beautiful, it is totally laughable and conceited beyond belief.

This is funny. Long legs do not mean beauty at all. I've met many, many long-legged women, with whom I'd never swap shapes. Look at the link:

On the first picture there are two women with the longest legs in the world, the right one is a model. And they are both ugly like shit.

  61. I think the one on the right looks reasonably good, although her legs are almost too long.

The other one unfortunately doesn't have a good face, and also her feet are so big they destroy the elegance her legs might otherwise have.

  62. I used to be afraid of going to beach with boys (so I always refused any chance that I have to wear swimwear) or wear flats in front of boys, because I feel like they laugh at me in their head. I might be paranoid, but I feel like that when they look at my legs. But this friendly-look Georgie makes me feel it's waste of my time. Life is only once... Because a real boy wouldn't care how my legs are short and would accept my inside. True love would accept my everything... I wouldn't believe so-called love of the boy who just praise my legs, even if I had long legs... :)

  63. That was a nice comment Nancy. Life is short, you're right, and nobody wants a guy who's just into your looks. Whatever you want in life or men, you often have to wade through the bad to get to the good, but it is out there I think. Best wishes!

  67. Hey, I know it's sound odd to list a name of a porn star though, but I always thought Jaelyn Fox has a long torso and shorter thighs for her height 5' 7" (170cm). www.charismamodels.com/photos_gallery.php?ID=1616 (her non-nude pics here as a model Jenna Higginbotham her real name. This is not a porn website.) Actually most of pornstars are usually naked or in only undies, so they can't hide their inseam even if they wear thick hooker heels. Her belly is long (from the navel) too. Maybe her body is close to Paris HIlton, a tall slender body with a long torso.

  69. Can we have a place to suggest new candidates please?

Here is Chritine Martin, a former beauty queen. Tall, but definitely long-torsoed and short-legged I think.

  72. Georgie Thompson.

    JUST a pretty face.

    Ditto Heidi Range.

Short, chubby girls, with fat arses ain't my thing.

  73. Does it even matter?? Good grief, there are more important things to concern oneself with I would think. And beauty which shouldn't be only skin deep, can be found in any race, culture, ethnicity--whatever.....embrace you're "perfection" and imperfection....if everyone were the same, that'd be boring as hell. I'm just saying. Smh.
