Christina Ricci

Christina Ricci, is particularly short, and has short legs as well coupled with a long torso, although short people do not automatically have a disproportionate torso/limbs ratio. For example Kylie Minogue, is quite petite, but her legs are considered long, and desirable.
Christina is demonstrating the classic to clothing problem for us Lady Short Legs readers, our cardigans, and shirts, and tops rarely meet our jeans and trousers, so we have to wear some sort of a long tank top underneath to cover that expansive mid section area.

  1. This short legs/long torso thing has almost become an obsession of mine! I read in an article somewhere (cant remember where) that the average woman has legs that are atleast 45% of their total height. 48% and up is considered attractive. You figure it out by dividing your leg length over total height and multiplying by 100%. *sigh* Short of attractive I am at 45.3 :( Martha Stewart is at 48.9% (very attractive) and Rosie O'Donnell is at 36.1%. Obsessed much? lol.

  2. Wow this is very interesting Peacnluv! Thanks for sharing, I too am slightly obsessed by this topic, hence the blog, so I am on the constant look out for info on our subject. So if you have any further information; articles, celebrities, etc.. do let us know.
So I did the measurements, and I am 45.7

  3. Heidi Montag has some seriously short legs. Looks even worse now that she had the second boob job. And thanks Peacnluv for posting that formula(48.5 using inseam measurement) because now I feel a bit better about the length of my legs. I think I've learned that I just have a really long torso with a short ribcage lol

  4. Hi Emma, thank you for your tip on Heidi, I will check her out, I appreciate all suggestions from readers.
As for your legs, it sounds like they are in fact not short, if they are 48.5% of your body.

  5. Yes, I agree. I always felt as though they were short because of people telling me what a long torso I have. Gave me a bit of a complex. The low rise jeans fad didn't help either.

  6. You are welcome Emma! Glad to aid in our mutual psychosis :). Although, from your measurements, your legs are fine! Dont worry about them. Dont let a few naysayers get you down.
I've just noticed that Pink has some serious short legs too. Its a shame that we can't get celebrities' inseam lengths :( Just when you think you can find everything on the Net...wish we could contact their tailors!

  7. I know! I'm dyyyinngg to know Alessandra Ambrosio's inseam!

I'm tall so I think that makes my long torso more noticable, but I definitely feel much better now lol

  9. Glad you're enjoying the conversation LadySlgs :). I agree w u Emma about Alessandro Ambrosio's inseam. Never imagined her as short legged. When I read that post, My. Jaw. Dropped. And from the pictures, her disproportion is pretty noticeable. But bc she's so unbelievably gorgeous, its no big deal. B***h! Oh well, I guess only Angels can get away with everything...

  10. Haha, wow! That formula has me in a bit of a tizzy now... you know how you're taller when you wake up, and then your spine 'shrinks' during the day? If I use my height in the morning, I get 46.1% but if I use my height at bedtime I get 46.8%--almost 47%! So now I'm wishing I could just compress my spine a bit more, haha, even if it would make me shorter; but as an athlete, of course I really shouldn't even entertain such thoughts. My husband's rolling his eyes at me now that I must have been 'so unattractive' with my short legs that I was unable to have anyone fall in love with me... but I'll just let his sarcasm slide, the dear man. Yet does anyone know what brand of jeans Christina Ricci is wearing in that photo? They're too cute! :)

  11. Just so nobody thinks I'm crazy, here's the study I was talking about: http://www.guide-to-great-legs.com/nice-legs.html
I couldnt find the official study results even though I read them. This is the closest I could get.

  14. I absolutely agree about the low rise jeans! it was so hard a few years back to buy anything else, and it was particularly unflattering for our long torsos. Mid rise is far nice, glad they've had a comeback. Just came across this pic of Paris Hilton, and I actually really like her torso, although it is long, rather like mine.

  16. What's weird for me is...I have longer bottom half of my legs and a longer torso but shorter thighs...What to do?!

  17. Krystal, I noticed your comment in the sidebar: The other weekend I saw this woman with the most awesome calves... I couldn't tell if she was proportionate/disproportionate, long- or short-torsoed, but her thighs were SO much shorter than her awesome calves. I mean, really, her calves were amazing! My husband said the effect was kind of strange-looking, but I said I'd take legs like hers over mine (short but normally-proportioned for legs, with longer femurs) any day. Even if she was short-legged with a long torso, those long calves would trick people into thinking she has longer legs, and she could get away with a lot if she dresses for it. So don't worry, you sound like you have similar proportions and therefore a lot to work with! :)
