Here is our Lady Short Leg's duchess Keira Knightley looking incredible in high waisted trousers. Considering that she is aware of her proportions, it appears that she is choosing her fashion accordingly, and luckily for her and for us all high waisted jeans and trousers are quite in style. Those billowy trousers of hers paired with the nautical striped top or the deep V neck blouse is thoroughly a good outfit for us (besides a dress) and very chic too. I especially like the ones with the four buttons, however in some of the looks, it would have been better to match the shoe color to the trousers, for a more elongating look.
A baggy/wide leg pant (like hers), as supposed to tight high rise one, is better as it does not draw attention to a long back.
She's great. Her legs seem more, more longer.
ReplyDeleteI find the high rise pants too high, and either out of style or way ahead of it. Although I like wide leg pants, they often make legs look shorter in my opinion (if you're already short). I've seen photos of Rachel Bilson in wide leg pants, and it doesn't look good. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteShe really pulls off that look. Especially the blue ones with the belt. I think she is able to wear them because she has small hips, but with a long torso and large hips, it doesn't really work so well :(
ReplyDeleteHigh rise pants with wide legs (or baggy pants) only work if you're super skinny.
ReplyDeleteI believe women who are normal size and those who are more rounded can also wear the high rise wide trouser.
ReplyDeleteHowever this type of pant is flattering only in dark colors.
Here is a photo of regular women looking great in this style:

I couldn't see the photo (from fashion herald)?!

Thanks. I saw the photo. I thought the pants made her frumpy, more overweight, with bigger legs than she has. And the pooling of pants at the feet to cover shoes always looks weird to me.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, women's fashions are such extremes: skinny skinny pants or wide wide leg pants, low rise (can see thongs and more) or ultra high rise. Ultra high rises emphasizes a long back, especially from the back. A moderate high rise with a slight flare, or bootcut is probably best - although not the trendiest.
And on some women with long torso/short legs the skinny pants isn't bad. Rachel Bilson for instance doesn't look too bad in that first photo with skinny jeans - probably because they're not ultra low rise and she's wearing an above the hip top. That's the key skinny pants with a higher rise.
Oh, and on women who medium sized and slender, wide leg pants with a medium rise, or to the waist rise (not higher) can look very elegant a la Katherine Hepburn. I've seen women wear them as part of a business suit and it looks time and spectacular.
ReplyDeleteCheck out Maggie Gyllenhaal on Regis and Kelly. Or this woman from the Sartorialist. Unfortunately, if you're short you need heels though. And I like just a peek of shoe so you don't look you have elephant legs.

What about the singer Pink (short legs)? I never thought she was very attractive. But, a number of guys I've heard say that she's pretty hot. Maybe, it's because she's a good live singer, and the 'I don't care' bad girl image??? She defies the stereotypical long hair, long legs, big boobs look anyway.
ReplyDeleteGrabrielle Anwar from the Burn Notice has long torso/short legs. She is incredibly beautiful, very European and natural looking.
ReplyDeleteJane Seymour kinda has short legs. She was a former Bond Girl, Doctor Medicine Women (?), Dancing with the stars.
ReplyDeleteKate Winslet has short legs.
ReplyDeleteOn the Today show recently, there was a clip with a stylist from a major magazine (Glamour?) doing street makeovers. She saw a woman wearing capris and said that they were making her legs look short.
ReplyDeleteHer tip, then, was to make them narrower and roll them up (where they fall on your leg is vital). By god, it did the trick. It was amazing!
Check out Eliza Dushku for short legs. Pretty interesting looking girl.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this blog !
ReplyDeleteReally !
I have short legs, and i know how it's difficult.
I can add, that pencil skirt a bit large, (oversized ? i'm french, excuse my english) is well too because its does'nt show really hips.
:-)

Hi, cute site this is. I noticed that Halle Berry is nowhere on this site, and she has shorter legs than me, I noticed it when she starred in that James Bond-movie. Check it out: http://www.popoholic.com/2010/05/21/halle-berry-in-short-shorts-is-vavavoom/
ReplyDeleteHi, Anonym
ReplyDeleteYoy are fine. My legs are shorter than Halle. And I am not dwarf.
You (not yoy) - sorry
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anonymous!
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, no one - neither man nor woman - has ever commented on my short legs. However, they do see the slender waist. I guess that's what we get instead. No one is perfect, but everyone is beautiful.
I dont think these pants look good on her. It makes the line from the top of the pant to her crotch area so long in the front. Just looks frumpy.
ReplyDeleteOK people, perhaps you are right, this is not an IDEAL outfit for us, so I changed it to the word GOOD instead. A dress is the ideal outfit for us, however I still think these type of trousers are good, well at least they are not harem pants, the kind where the crotch hangs at the knees. Now that would be one insanely horrendously unflattering outfit.
