your opinion?

Hey, dear readers of Lady Short Legs, help me out give me your opinions.
I am sure all of you have ideas and observations on celebrities that would suite this blog, some of you have all ready given me your suggestions in the comments and I want to hear more.
What other celebrities have a long torso coupled with short legs?

Note: I am loving all your comments folks, thank you!

  9. Katie Holmes??? No.

Katy Perry? Maybe, I don't remember.

  10. Kirsten Dunst has short legs???

  11. I vote no on Mischa Barton. She does have a long waist, but her legs are proportionately long. Unlike Nicky Hilton, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ambrosio.

  12. Mischa Barton definitely yes. I googled long torso/short legs and she popped right up.Even when she was very thin, you could tell.

And its even more obvious now that she's gained weight.

Katie Holmes too! I never noticed but after googling, i have to agree.

For me, jury is still out on Kirsten Dunst and Gwyneth. Maybe their legs are so thin that it makes it difficult to tell.

  13. Guys, if Kirsten Dunst has short legs ... so we are very very VERY short legged!!! So I cry!!!

Gwyneth Paltrow an others they cited has medium legs.

We need to see lady's legs like Rachel Bilson, Keira, Cristina ...

  14. I agree with last comment that Kirsten Dunst does not have short legs. We are screwed if she does.

In photo cited above, Mischa Barton looked leggy to me, but also long waisted.

Maybe we are getting confused between long waisted and normal length legs, and long waisted vs. short legs?

  15. I found this link that explains average body proportions:
    http://www.worsleyschool.net/socialarts/body/proportions.html

If you're going by the body length proportionally, than I agree that Kirsten Dunst, Gwyneth Paltrow, Katy Perry, etc...do have short legs. Visually, it's not as noticeable compared to someone like Claire Danes, as they do look long waisted, with normal length legs, like Marisa Miller. Plus, their height and slimness make it less noticeable.

But if you're going by proportions, as it seems like you may be, with Kate Hudson, Marisa Miller, etc. than those examples may be worth considering.

And, I don't think we're screwed if others have slightly shorter legs, like Kirsten Dunst and Gwyneth Paltrow. We should feel empowered as they are more people we can relate to that successfully conceal their disproportion. It doesn't really matter how long are legs are! It seems that short legged girls are everywhere and we're ruling! :)

  16. Audrina Patridge too, if you haven't done a post on her yet

  17. I'm sorry. I don't think Kate Hudson, or Audrina Patridge have short legs. Audrina has a long torso perhaps. But Kate Hudson looks perfectly normal. In fact, I think she like Jennifer Aniston have perfect proportions.

  18. I was wondering if it's possible that legs look (just optical) longer if they r thiner and toned..

I personally have short legs, but with the summer i lose wight and my legs look better...it's not so obvious anymore the difference with the torso..

  19. I agree with you Matilda. Anytime you lose weight, it makes the torso look less big and the legs look longer. You can really see it in extreme cases. For example, the morbidly obese always look like they have very short stubby legs. When they lose weight, it seems like their arms and legs grow longer.

  20. Audrina has crazy short legs! Now I cry! Haha. Exhibit A:

  21. Audrina Patridge's legs its longer than mine. :-( =(

  22. Audrina's legs look great in the photos you described. Especially, her long lean curvy waist belly area that I've seen in other photos. I understand she doesn't have that super leggy look of models, but very few women do. But, her body type is very different from Rachel Bilson's and Christina Ricci's.

  23. Great blog. I've always been self-conscious about my long torso and short legs. You have helped my a lot. Maybe we short legged ladies are more normal than we think and that no one really cares as much as we think they do. Thank you.

  24. Asian and anglospeakers are very interested in lenght of woman's legs.
I have been self conscious after reeding and wacthing fiction (entertainment, art ...)of Eua, Russia, United Kington and Arabias.

  25. Most celebrities tend to hide their disproportions really well, but it's worth to check out Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Scarlett Johansson and Kate Winslet. I could be wrong, though.

  26. All your ideas are great, I will look into them. Thanks ladies.

  27. Mena Suvari and Cate Blanchett?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Halle Berry?? could be wrong..

  29. I think Lady Gaga looks she does have short legs for caucasian. Especially under the knees. Also I have seen a really short legged actor in some 80s B-movie, but I just can't remember the title.

I have no idea why men worship long legs. But maybe that long distance from the ground makes women mysterious, because the distance makes pu*sy far from the ground? I mean, it looks like you can't have sex with them easily. So, long legs make women mysterious? Hmmm...

  30. Hi! I love this blog... my voice teacher accused me of having short legs last year and me being the already self-concious woman that I am took it way too seriously. I don't even know that I actually AM short-legged or that he just meant I wasn't long-legged. I am barely 5'2 with a 28-inch inseam. I know that my legs aren't long, but a short pant length fits me perfectly, and since I AM short I actually think I'm technically proportionate for my height... but you guys are the experts... does a 28 inch inseam at that height count as short legs?

  31. Lea Michele has a long torso / short legs

  32. So many anonymous-es....

Here's the thing. Lengths like Inseams and heights are measurements we all know because of the clothes/fashion thing. But, unfortunately, they're notoriously unreliable. Many people too are loath to measure all the way to the top of the inseam :)... like to wear their pants short or long (over heels or just like it long), plus the differences in sizes between manufacturers, etc.

Or, people are simply very, VERY INACCURATE MEASURERS. My father who's an engineer by the way once built a door for our basement, and left a 1/2 inch gap between the door knob and the hole for the door knob so you could see right through it :). Then there were his other projects :).

    Anyway.

Researchers who study anthropometrics, I'm guessing, didn't want to get up in people's inseams so they typically use the Cormic Index. It's good because you NEED to compare statistically to the norms of a population. If you just compare to a few friends, Gisele Bundchen/Naomi Campbell, well, hell everyone could have short legs in the right situation.

So to do this, you need to measure your sitting height (flat against the floor), sitting very straight, and then divide by your height. Your sitting height by the way will vary depending on if it's in the morning (where your spine has straightened out from sleeping all night) or at night when it's compressed from being vertical all day.

I wrote a comment about the Cormic index before. And what indexes probably indicate short legs, long legs, etc. Do a search here, and you should see it.

And if you do have short legs, welcome to the club :). I think from all the ladies we've seen here, short legs themselves are not a deal breaker

  33. By the way, to 5'2 and 28 inseam, your measurements sound pretty normal to me.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I too am 5'2 with a 27 inch inseam. I am slightly short legged, 28 sounds perfectly proporitionate

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm 5"3 with a 27 inch inseam... I'm pretty short legged and I'm also pear-shaped, which makes my legs look even shorter

    ReplyDelete
  36. True that Natalie Portman and Megan Fox have short legs. They are both short and have short legs in proportion to their height.
Kate Hudson does not have short legs; she is quite proportionate.

  37. To all those who are actually complaining about short legs, get this: I'm 5' 9" (that's 175cm) tall with 29inch legs. Yeah, here's SOMETHING to complain about. So the anonymous at 5'2" with 28 inch legs... believe me, you don't have short legs. Your legs are more than proportionate to your body. Besides, you wouldn't want to have 40inch inseam (ie, runway model's requirement) for your legs... at your height, 40inch inseam would make you look like an alien or underdeveloped child. I mean this in the nicest way possible.
Mind you, I am Asian. Still.
Ladies, it's all about what you wear. I'm careful to never wear skinny legs with flats: always wear jeans with heels. Skirts just above the near are perfect too, and if you insist on wearing minis, wear high heels. That's my trick so unless I tell someone I have short legs, no one actually notices. :)

  38. I really love this thread and I think it can be very, very helpful for all who think that their legs are too short. My legs are 31 inch inseam and I’m 5'35''. „Ladyshortlegs“ is very powerful and just awesome. Thanks a lot.

  39. Wow so either I'm terribly disproportioned (and so is my boyfriend) and you ladies have extremellllly long legs for your or one of us is misinformed about our height and lack measuring skills. I came across this blog after searching katy perry ! I'm 5"8 and my in seam is about 27 inches... So by comparison my legs would be terribly short for my height. My boyfriend is 5"11 and his in seam is 31 inches... I know for a fact that he himself has very long legs in comparison to his body which is quite short. So those of you complaining about being 5"3 with a 28 inch legs... Either you've miscalculated or you need to join daddy long legs blog ...(if there is one) :p
